About the designer: Louis Féraud

French fashion designer Louis Féraud opened his first boutique in Cannes in 1955 after dressing a young Brigitte Bardot in an off-the-shoulder dress and 600 copies were ordered. His designs were worn by other stars including Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Ingrid Bergman and Joan Collins. He and his wife Zizi opened a boutique in Paris in the late 1950s, setting up a workshop and showroom on the Faubourg St Honoré directly opposite the Elysée palace and joining Dior, Lanvin and Givenchy as an haute couturier in the seasons of 1958. In the 1960s, Twiggy modelled his collections. In 1970, he signed a contract with Fink (Germany) for a ladies’ prêt-à-porter (ready-to-wear) collection. In 1978 and again in 1984 he won the ‘Golden Thimble Award’ for his Haute Couture Collection. In 1991, he was elected Prince de l’Art de Vivre; and in 1995, he was decorated Officier de la Légion d’honneur, by the French President. His daughter Kiki signed her first Haute Couture collection with Féraud in 1996. The head Haute Couture designer throughout the 1970s,80s and 90s was the Icelandic designer Helga Bjornsson.
