Bar 83 at Sydney Tower

New Bar 83 at Sydney Tower launches with retro vibe

It’s a nod to mod….

Bar 83 at Sydney Tower, the highest bar in the city of Sydney, is set to open on Friday 25 September.

The cool new venue with a distinct retro vibe replaces a former event space on Level 3 of the much-loved Sydney Tower, which stands 245 metres and 83 floors above street level. Patrons can take in 260-degree views of the harbour city.

I am totally loving the space-age and modernist style furnishings.

Its groovy and modern interiors have been designed by well-known Sydney studio, Loopcreative. The studio noted, “The top of the ‘old Centrepoint Tower’ will be the highest altitude bar in the country. In line with this altitude, the space that we have designed is one that is international in style transporting guests back in time with a subtle hint of retro nostalgia. The space is bold, and also a little bit cheeky. We wanted to design a bar, that to international and local guests alike, appeared as if it had always been there –  a time-capsule of the era.”

In a further ode to the historic bones of the building, Bar 83 will be directly accessible by a striking spiral staircase that has been hidden away from the public for decades. Patrons can access the three levels of dining and beverage offerings via the spiral stairs.

Award-winning bartender and beverage director, Jenna Hemsworth, will serve as the Venue Manager at Bar 83. Jenna was named Australian Bartender of the Year in 2018 and ranked Top 16 in the Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition in Amsterdam that same year. The venue’s cocktail list will focus on Australia’s seasonal produce and ingredients. A contemporary bar food menu has been curated by Mike Dierlinger – Head Chef of sister venue, Infinity at Sydney Tower – and will include share plates and Australian classics.

Bar 83 at Sydney Tower is part of the fully refurbished, three-level Sydney Tower Dining precinct. After a multi-million-dollar investment by Trippas White Group, the space will include new food and beverage experiences at Infinity at Sydney Tower; and SkyFeast at Sydney Tower on Level 2. Of the three new venues, only Infinity and SkyFeast will be a ‘revolving’ venue (spinning slowly to take in different city views).
