This classic, geometric vintage 1960s Antonelli scarf is made by pioneering Italian fashion designer, Maria Antonelli. She is credited with helping put Italian fashion on the map as a rival to France. Her minimalist designs were said to have pre-empted the 1960s trend. On offer is this gorgeous, Italian large blue Antonelli Roma scarf with varying tones of aqua blue. It is made of polyester and only has one small mark on it (see last photo).
About the designer: Maria Antonelli
Maria Antonelli (1903 – 1969) was a pioneering Italian fashion designer. She established her fashion house in 1930. She joined other designers in July 1951 to take part in a fashion show organised by Giovanni Battista Giorgini in Florence with the aim of cementing the Italian fashion scene as a firm rival to France. Her designs have been described as having “minimalist silhouettes which pre-empted the 60s trend”. She dressed several Italian celebrities.
